The Orange Box

This project was born from the collaboration with an office furniture company, The orange box. The aim was to think and design an object halfway between architecture and furniture, thanks also to the close collaboration with the product design course. When people think of working environments, they often think of the office or working from home. Either the office is too far from home, or you want to get away from your dingy kitchen table. An area where people from different backgrounds come together to work. To free yourself from offices and long commutes, you need to be surrounded by other workers and motivated. The inspiration was Wright’s organic architecture and in particular his relationship with wood. Thought was given to how to filter the passage of light instead of using a screening fabric. The motif of vertical stripes and added them to the structure.  A softer, rounded shape to promote functionality and ergonomics. The details for fitting the chairs onto the table top remained, with a few aesthetic adjustments.
